He is passionate about practical engineering; a bit of a wood wizard; a keen gardener and an accomplished amateur builder. His biggest obsession is building and restoring machines including cars, motorbikes and aircraft. Most blokes have a shed - Mark has a 1500sq.ft. fully-equipped engineering workshop!

Despite his passion for all things motorised he qualified from the Royal Veterinary College in 1987.

Since 1990 he has developed strong working relationships with the print and broadcast media and has now presented well over 200 hours of network television programmes. Although Mark is best known as a trusted voice of authority on animal care / welfare matters, his "hobby" interests are also receiving attention from broadcasters. As well as hosting a variety of gardening and DIY shows, Mark has become infamous for fronting the eight 'Is Born' series.

Mark is also an internationally published author on animal care: How to Look After Your Pet - a seven book series published by Dorling Kindersley and Mark Evans Animal Care - a four book series published internationally by Mitchell Beazley.
